Old but wise birthday card

Old but wise…that’s my birthday card inspiration for this Casology Week 124 cue card (OLD) and all I could think about is having a little owl to represent the “wise” part.

Using only two clear stamps from Penny Black 30-110 Bugsy and Owly clear stamp set, I was able to create this Clean and Simple birthday card quickly.

The only extra step I took was to split the sentiment up into two parts.  Original sentiment goes something like this “Look “whoo’s” another year older!”  So, given that “whoo’s” a much larger font, I’d decided to stamp that by itself above the owl.  While the rest “another year older!” went below the owl.

To mask the sentiment, I simply use masking tape to cover the part of the stamp I don’t intend to stamp with, ink it and remove the masking tape carefully before stamping.  It’s fun to split sentiments at times to re-create a different look.

I hope you guys like this simple birthday card design.  Looking forward to another week of challenge with CASology!

Ren, I love this sweet wise old owl, and splitting the sentiment was a great idea! I love this layout! (I also love the paper you use, it has such pretty texture…what is it?) Thanks for joining us at CASology this week!

      Hi Judy,
I bought from a paper company that supplies wedding invitation card, try googling for hammered textured white card. This is hammered texture and there is also linen texture type card, but I prefer the hammered ones. Great for blending distress ink…like what I did for the white on white challenge. :)
