Christmas in July

Hi everyone,

Let’s have Christmas in July before moving to August!

Today, I am going to share this card I made with Mama Elephant Alpine Carolers, designed by Elena Roussakis.  Although this stamp set was released last year, but I still love it.  Did you see the shaker card I made with this stamp?

Without further ado, I just want to bring in an early cheer to have Christmas in July and here is my creation,

Mama Elephant Alpine Carolers

I stamped the three images on a separate white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored with Copic.  I have it cut out using the coordinating dies and started working on the card base background.

I stamped the sentiment with watermark ink and embossed with white embossing powder.

I mask the landscape with my usual Post-it paper and did the blending of Distress ink – Tumbled Glass to create the cool blue sky.  At this point, the embossed sentiment will become more obvious.

I used Fun Flock – Cotton Ball White and it’s lovely to have that felt like effect for the ground.  It gives a different texture to the otherwise ordinary card base.

If you have been reading my blog, I have mentioned that I really love Sookwang double sided tape.  I am using the 40mm width tape and to adhere the Fun Flock, I find that the best is to use Sookwang double sided tape.

I normally keep the double sided tape backing and this is where it comes in handy.  To create the fun flock landscape, I will use the recycled backing to adhere to the back of a new double sided tape strip.

At this point, it is not sticky on both sides as it is basically protected both front and back with the backing strip.  I will trim the landscape shape that I want, peel off one of the backing and stick onto the card base.

Next, I will remove the 2nd backing and start to spread the fun flock over the sticky strip and that’s it, the fun flock is nicely adhered to the card base and you can still feel the soft cotton like background.

I hope you like this Alpine Caroler card idea.  It’s a lovely set to own have.
