CMCC #88 Life is Beautiful

Hi everyone,

I am always so excited with the weekly challenge from Colour Me.

This week, I am so inspired by this strikingly different color palette and I can’t wait to share my creation with you.

CMCC #88

Playing with water color and simple heat embossing, this is what I created,

Waffle Flower Doily Circle

Using water color paper, mask four sides with washi tape to create a uniform border.

I use a mix of Distress Markers – Forest Moss and Peacock Feathers to blend together to get a shade as close as possible to this week’s color Lost Lagoon.

Using the smooshing technique, I ink up a Forest Moss and Peacock Feathers on a clear acetate plastic and mist with water that is mixed with Ranger Perfect Pearls – Perfect Pearls. Using paint brush, I mix in the two distress markers ink to get the right tone of color before smooshing onto my water color paper.

Repeat the smooshing technique by using the Distress Marker – Festive Berries to get the red tone.

Heat set it so the water color is completely dry before working with embossing powder.

Dust over the water color with EK Success Powder tool before doing heat embossing so you will not get any stray embossing powder all over.  This will keep the embossing clean and only at the areas intended to be embossed, especially for images with fine lines.  So, it’s just to make it neat and tidy!

Stamp the Doily Circle with Versamark Watermark.  I deliberately emboss red over green background and teal over red background to get a more contrasting look.  I use Ranger Embossing Powder – Red and Zing! Embossing Powder – Metallic Teal.

After the embossing of the Doily circle is done, I run through the water color paper with my Evolution Advanced machine to get the stitched border, using Lawn Fawn Stitched Border dies.

Layer over a red card stock with Sook Wang double sided tape.

On a separate water color paper, stamp banner and sentiment using Watermark ink pad and emboss with Zing! Embossing Powder – Metallic Teal.  Trim out the banner close to the embossed lines.

Adhere the banner onto the water color paper with foam tape.

I wanted to emphasize on the message and so, I decided to add a few sequins around the sentiment, adhering the sequins with Ranger Glossy Accent.

I deliberately stamped the sentiment towards the left of the banner as I wanted to add some sequins on the right, as you can see from this close-up.

I layer the water color paper over to red cardstock and finally, the whole card design is adhere to an ivory Linen textured card base with Sook Wang double sided tape.

I hope you like this creation.  I really love this Doily Circle by Waffle Flower.  It’s really pretty and you may check out my other creation with this stamp here.  I have just purchased the die for the Doily Circle and I can’t wait for it to arrive.
