I made this card in loving memory of Mannie, Kristina Werner‘s cat.
I do not know Kristina personally but when I started this hobby again late last year, I googled a little on the latest trend in card making and found her blog.
Since then, I have been so inspired by her works and started following and learning from her videos. Occasionally, there will be a sweet meowing at the background of her videos and that is none other than Mannie.
Mannie’s very distinct black and white face is really adorable. And if you have seen Kristina’s coloring of any cat image, you will notice they are mostly colored in resemblance of Mannie.
Last Friday, Mannie passed away suddenly and Kristina’s good friend, Jennifer McQuire started a fund raising effort to help other animals in need, you can read more about it here.
So today, I just want to share with you this card I made for Kristina and I hope it brings some cheer to her. I have also attempted to color the face in that distinct black and white.
Image and sentiment are stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and using wet brush, I dabbed around the image and let the Memento ink blend slightly.
I added more Memento ink for the darker area and finally, finish off the ears, nose, halo and star with copic Pink and Yellow markers.
I also applied Zig Wink of Stella - Clear on the wings.
I drew the dotted lines with Copic Multiliner round the tag.
I cut a small slit on the card fold and insert a ribbon to tie round the cover of the card base. I really like this technique as it makes the card look like a wrapped gift.
And finally, I adhered the image tag over the ribbon to keep it in place, using foam tape.
