Birthday Card using Penny Black Wood Mounted Stamp

Penny Black wood mounted stamps just have the most adorable critters range. Bought this many years back, it’s still brand new!  The rubber is still in excellent condition even after storing away for years!  Kudos to Penny Black folks who just make wonderful wood mounted stamps!

I stamped the image using Versafine Onyx Black and embossed with clear embossing powder.  Noticed that my card base is textured?  But the image is still well transferred to the paper, thanks to good quality rubber and Versafine ink.

I “broke” the sentiment image up (Oops, I did it again! Check out the previous one I did).  This sentiment is a woodmounted stamp from Hero Arts and it is actually in two separate lines.  So, I decided to have everything in one line and since “FUN” is larger font with all capital letters, I decided to really let that stand out by using a different color.

I also added a lighter tone using copic markers to outline every alphabet to make it more fun and dreamy.  The hearts are from Lawn Fawn clear stamps which I stamped on the card using the same red ink.

This is a very simple design, the idea to take with you is the possibilities of achieving a different look by “breaking” up sentiment stamps and to add an outline or even shadow to the words to have additional effect on the sentiment.

Have fun creating!
