Happy Birthday to The Card Concept

Happy Sunday everyone!

This is the second submission to The Card Concept Challenge blog as I was really inspired by the color palette and I decided to make a shaker card, using the layout inspiration from Freshly Made Sketches.

Here is my creation for today,

I have used Mama Elephant Everyday Greetings and Type It Clear Stamp sets for this project and I wanted to create something that looks like a Polaroid picture and yet add some life to it by making it to a shaker card.  Basically, a clean and layered card with added embellishment like sequins and beads.

I stayed as closely as possible to the color theme from The Card Concept by using Versacolor Sage, Seashell, Sand Beige and Petal Pink.

First, I prepared the front and back for the shaker.  I stamped the rectangle Polaroid frame from Mama Elephant Type it and cut out the center to make the window.

I stamped the sentiment “happy b-day” as well as the small tiny cupcake on a separate cardstock to be trimmed out later.

I traced the window over to the back for the shaker card so I know where exactly I need to stamp the sentiment and what will be showing through the window.

I stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant Everyday Greetings and used the circle from Type it to stamp little bubbles all over, mixing colors of Petal Pink, Sand Beige and Seashell, randomly all over.

You will see some sequins here which I intentionally adhered to it using Ranger Glossy Accent.  So these will stay in place and it will be nicely spread up once the rest of the sequins and beads are added.

I used foam instead of my previous shaker card which I used foam tape.  This method was based on a video by the very talented Jennifer McGuire, who did a guest video on yet another talented card designer’s blog.  You can check out the actual video here posted on Kristina Werner’s blog which will clearly show you the steps to assemble the whole shaker card.

Here is the completed card and I hope you like it.  I really love the overall effect and the color palette of this card.
