I wanted to make it very vintage looking for this card by using the right color and water, just these two items!
Anyway, I got the suggestion of using Wild Honey from Tim Holtz Distress Markers for the background from my Instagram friend, Kymona and I really wanted to try because she is such a creative and talented lady in playing with colors and stamps!
So, here is my creation!
Using Lawn Fawn LF320 Hello Friend clear stamp set, I stamped this sentiment using Versamark Watermark ink and embossed with Ranger Foam White embossing powder.
I deliberately chose a stamp that has a large area to emboss to white so it will still retain as much white space for a CAS look.
Next, I wet the area surrounding the sentiment with water using a big paint brush. I transferred some Wild Honey Distress Marker using a wet brush and dab it around the sentiment to let the color spread naturally.
I heat set it slightly just to get the ink to dry up a little but putting extra care not to over heat the embossed white area.
To make that little white dots, you can either use Copic colorless blender to dot it as it will kind of bleach the distress ink and it will give a very clear dots. But I decided to go with the technique of sprinkling small dots of water over the yellow, let the water sit for a while and just place a tissue over to absorb the excess water.
That gives a much more misty look, which I really prefer it for a vintage and worn look.
I hope you like this card. One stamp, one distress marker, that’s all you need!
